Mom Trying To Do Better

I'm constantly reading other money saving blogs and blogs to help me get organied, etc and I like to participate in their projects that they do, so I've decided to start my own blog dedicated to my progress on these challenges and also just being accountable to myself in general for any way that I'd like to improve as a mother.

A little about me...I'm a 31 year old mother of three. I have a daughter who is 9 and in 3rd grade (Emily), a son who is 7 and in 1st grade (Tyler) and another son who is 5 and in preschool (Owen).

I had a great mother as an example growing up. I came from a family of 8 kids and my mother seemed to have an endless amount of patience. She wasn't perfect, but was darn close. I recall very little yelling and mean things said in our house.  I feel very inadequate as a mother and like most yell way too much, don't watch what I say to my children and all around just don't have the happy home that I want. I'm going to be writing about the challenges that I find on other blogs to become a better person and a better mother and also write about specific things that I am always wanting to be working on.

I'm still not quite sure where I'm going to end up with this blog, but I'm excited for the journey and to have the opportunity to share with others who struggle with the same things as I do.

The first challenge that I'm officially joining begins on Friday and it is an "early rise" challenge over at moneysavingmom.com. Right now I stay in bed until I hear my kids in the kitchen getting their breakfast around 7:30. My goal is to get up at 6:30 every morning so that I can get some exercise in before the kids wake up and so that I'm already in the kitchen helping them get breakfast when they come upstairs.  I'm hoping to be able to squeeze in some personal scripture study time as well.

Other things that I'm currently working on in our family is being more positive with my kids and criticizing them less.  I have written in my planner "Be Positive" and I truly need to remember that as I go through out my day so that every word out of my mouth isn't how my kids could have done better at something.  My daughter, who is nine, has some terrible self esteem issues and I know some of it is a stage she is going through as a nine year old, but me being so negative all the time certainly isn't helping. Being positive is something that we are all working on because somehow our house has become way too negative.

Join me on Friday when I'll let you know how my first day of waking up at 6:30 goes!
